What We Offer
We know we can make a difference
But that’s okay by us. We know we can still make a difference. We only have to be creative. Here’s some of what we hope the future holds for Literal Road Farm:
Feeding four families
Ever since we bought this property, we’ve had one recurring thought: “What if we could feed four families?” We can’t be market gardeners or raise 20 head of cattle due to our mud. But we can have a huge garden, raise some beef and chickens, and supply eggs—enough to feed four families.
We plan to recruit three families who want to be part of the farm, help with the garden, learn to freeze and can, and eat healthy food. Interested? Contact us to learn more.
Farm stays
We also plan to build a tiny home on the property so we can offer farm stays. People will be able to visit for a weekend and choose from a variety of farm experiences, including learning about native plants, birds, canning, bread baking, gardening, horses, cows, chickens, cider pressing, pumpkins, and any other number of ideas we’ve yet to think of (or learn ourselves).
Work parties
People often tell us they want to help at the farm, just to get out of the city for a day or for a chance to get their hands dirty and do some manual labor. And we can sure use the help! We plan to have organized work parties in the summers when people can sign up to help with tractor work, fencing, tear downs, building, or other projects. Contact us to get on the list and we’ll let you know what we’re working on when.
And what else?
We have many possibilities we are working on, including:
- Halter-trained heifers that we will sell to people who want to have cows
- Cut flowers for bouquets and u-pick
- Gourmet pumpkins and squashes for eating or decorating
- Apples for eating and cider (once we can keep out the deer!)
If any of this interests you, let us know using the Contact page. We’ll be sure to keep in touch with you!
